Palm OS is over

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

So it looks like the Palm Treo 755p is going to be the ast model that sports the original Palm OS as we know it, kind of sad really when you compare my old Zire 71 to any of the Compaq / HP / Dell palmtop devices. But since everything now seems to need the ability to show HD movies in the smalled possible screen area possible not really a surprise.

For my two bobs I believe that Dell made the right decision by totally dropping palm top models completely earlier this year, basically they are all a bit unnecessary, spanning the area between mobile phones (that show movies, play music, organise your life and phone people) and laptops (which basically enable you to run your life). I seriously cannot really see where palm top computing can progress.

Just get a bloody PSP and then you can even play some rather shocking PS2 knockoff games!

New Year and all that

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

Christmas was peaceful and happy enough for me, which is always nice and now I am looking forward to the almighty piss up (and inevitable anti climax) that New years eve brings.

Now onto the problems, De Agostini has already started to advertise its yearly serials of magazines with absolutely awful FREE gifts.  “First Issue only 99p with a free statuette of John Wayne! - every issue after that £4.99 - Collect them All!”  Which nobody has ever done I am sure.

Every Sunday newspaper starts the yearly diet/detox/anti life serials.

Eastenders, Coronation Street, HollyOaks whatever has put us all into an almost permanent depression from which no recovery is possible. ON CHRISTMAS DAY!

And the Sofa shops have managed to convince everyone that although they only bought a new suite last year (and will not actually have to pay for it until next year) that they need a new one.

But I am personally looking forward to 2007, some exciting things are happening Vista will be out, hopefully IE6 will finally die and be replaced by IE7 which makes my working life so much easier, Adobe will be releasing its Universal Creative Suite 3 (yay!), Transformers the movie is out (maybe yay) and hopefully I will be moving to a nice new place with the missus.

Happy new 2007

Saddam Hussein is Sentanced to death

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

It has been reported that Saddam Hussein has been sentenced to death as well as his half brother.  Saddam’s lawyer has warned that a bloodbath will ensue if his appeal is not successful and I am worried that this statement is probably very true.

The war on terror has been nothing but that so far anyway how can this news bring any peaceful conclusion to anything.

A PC for Christmas

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

Because Vista is now not due to ship until next year PC manufacturers are expecting a struggle to sell computers over christmas and as they offload their stock to shops with Windows XP preloaded prices are expected to plummet.  A decent dual core laptop for less than 400 notes sounds quite likely from PC World on boxing day.  Time to start downloading those Ubuntu install discs now because that is going to be the bitch to get hold of when everyone realises their new computer is not up to modern software standards!
